Hi friends,
I hope you had a good week.
Time has flown over the past few days. There have been lots of exciting
developments, some of which I am not at liberty to share here, but as soon as I
can I will.
I am writing my Friday greeting in arrears today as I was without
internet the whole of Friday as so couldn’t post our usual chat; but it is safe today say that Friday was one of the most fun days I have
had in a while as Mr Noth and I finally embarked on our long awaited road trip to Cape
Town!
With the help of my trusty packing lists, we were packed in an hour. And
so with fresh brewed coffee from Infood in our travel mugs, a road trip mix of
classic tunes and a long list of you-must-go-here’s we drove out of little
Jeffreys Bay onto the open road.
Now, tradition is big in the Nothnagel clan – it’s trad. If you don’t
know what that means visit here. So, any road trip that involves going through
Plettenberg Bay means a visit to Le Fournil de Plett for coffee and Almond croissants –
its trad! We have great friends living in Plett so we dropped in to say hi before indulging our senses at the lovely cafe. Le Fournil is home to the best almond
croissants in the whole world. If you are ever in Plett you must stop in here
and say bonjour to Silvie, the talented and well travelled owner; she always knows exactly what order will fit your mood! We also couldn’t leave Plett without stopping in to The Village Bookshop to visit our friends there and peruse a copy of The Telegraph Express,
which is the expat newspaper here. Then we were off!
The scenery of the Western Cape is breathtaking.
I am not from a huge nation, England is a relatively small but lovely, green and pleasant
land; and so far what I had seen of the South African Eastern Cape can be
summed up as a rugged and majestic. To my English mixed cultured eyes the
Western Cape takes these two different landscapes and marries them together to
form a vast, green and majestic vista that should cause the deep part of your soul
to stand back and acknowledge the Creator of all things.
Hours later we arrived at our first home for the trip in Paarl. It is
here we are getting to know 'new, old friends'.
New/Old friends defined: People you have only recently met, but have known for many years through stories, letters, photos and your parents; and so you feel like you know them already and so instantly “click”.
Our evening was full of catching up on old news and sharing new dreams and laughing at the richness and greatness of life, especially one centred around
the God we serve.
Tomorrow the adventure begins.
First stop, The Old Biscuit Mill…
As always,
Thanks for stopping by, K x
